Norton™ 360 App Brings Cyber Safety Solutions to Mobile Devices - Identity Review - Identity Review | Global Tech Think Tank

This month, cybersecurity company NortonLifeLock announced the release of the new Norton 360 mobile application. The app allows for existing Norton 360 customers to access their device security, online privacy and identity features in one place. It also brings together features previously accessible through other Norton and LifeLock apps, making it easier for customers to access and manage their Cyber Safety tools from one centralized portal.

Features and Capabilities

The Norton 360 app provides multi-layered protection for mobile devices against vulnerabilities and other online threats that cybercriminals may take advantage of to take control of a customer’s device or steal their personal information. Based on the plan chosen and device owned, customers have a variety of security services available for use.

For instance, users are able to browse, bank and shop with bank-grade encryption from Norton Secure VPN, which helps block cybercriminals from accessing personal information sent and received when connecting to home and public WiFi. The app also provides access to Dark Web Monitoring, which continuously searches the dark web and private forums for personal information and notifies users if any information is found.

Another major feature is Norton 360’s App Advisor. Available for Android, App Advisor is powered by Norton Mobile Insight, a proprietary app analysis system that crawls app stores, analyzes running apps and uses machine learning to understand Android app behaviors. Using this technology, App Advisor is able to proactively help users’ smartphones by scanning apps to protect against mobile and online threats including malware, ransomware, adware and privacy leaks. It can scan apps both before and after they are downloaded and before any app update is installed, allowing users to make informed decisions on the apps they choose to download.

The Norton 360 App also offers WiFi security alerts, in which it notifies users on WiFi networks under attack by cybercriminals who may steal or glean personal information or infect devices with malware. To protect against this, Norton 360 offers web protection options that detect and safeguard users from navigating to fraudulent and malicious websites. It also offers a secure VPN2 for use when connecting to WiFi, which provides protected access to apps and websites using bank-grade encryption.

The Norton 360 App can help inform users on the state of their connection and help protect their devices from cyber attacks.

Finally, among other features, the Norton 360 provides a password manager, which helps users track and take control in protecting their online accounts and passwords.

“We want to provide our customers with a seamless, easy to use, complete experience to help them manage their Cyber Safety,” said Gagan Singh the Chief Product Officer at NortonLifeLock. “Historically, customers would need to visit multiple apps to have access to all of the device security, online privacy and identity features they are entitled to, but with the Norton 360 app, it’s all in one place.”
